Whangarei Amateur Swimming Club began over 50 years ago with a small group of passionate swimmers and volunteers committed to building a strong aquatic community. Over the decades we have grown into a thriving organisation, producing national-level athletes, supporting lifelong swimmers, and helping hundreds learn to swim safely.
Our club has trained champions, hosted regional meets, and continues to inspire the next generation of Northland swimmers.
In 2022 Manaia Swim Club merged with WASC to creater a bigger and better club with the benefits of scale and a shared passion for swimming. At this time the highly successful fitness squad was introduced, coached by the amazing Liz Furley.
We have a range of friendly and approachable coaches working with high performance squads through to members of all ages wanting to swim for fitness.
All swimmers coming into the club will be assessed prior to joining. Swimmers should be able to cope with at least a one hour of mostly continuous swimming. Get in touch to arrange a no obligation assessment with our coaching team.
Advancement to higher squads is at the approval of the Head Coach and will be assessed during training sessions.
We operate out of Whangārei Aquatic Centre, offering professional coaching across 4 different training squads in a friendly and inclusive environment. The squads include Performance, Development, Junior and Fitness.
Our training timetable includes 4 mornings, 4 afternoons and 3 evening sessions per week.
